Sofie Muneer, Queen of the House of India, is a senior in high school. She has been a part of HOI and Queens since sixth grade. She loves learning about different cultures and her own. Sofie is trained in two types of Indian classical dance and has been using dance as a way to express her culture since she was four. When she is older, she hopes to become an OBGYN and fight for women’s rights using science and medicine. HPR Queens has become a second family for Sofie and she is so excited to be Queen of Queens.

Jiselle Rullan is the current Queen of the House of Philippines. She has been part of Queens for the past seven years. She is currently in her second year at San Diego State University, majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Social Work. Along with HPR Queens, she is also part of the SDSU Student Organization, Andrés Bonifacio Samahan, and Filipina Sorority, Pi Nu Psi. She is very excited to be part of the board this year, where she will be finishing her final year in HPR Queens.

Selin Buyuksonmez, Queen for the House of Turkiye, is a senior in high school. She has been a member of HOT since kindergarten and HPR Queens since 10th grade. She displays her culture through her cultural dances like the Turkish Folklore Dance from different regions of Turkiye. She plans to become a civil engineer and architect, and transform her experience to become a businesswoman. She is excited to be a board member in HPR Queens which became a family embracing her and her cultural values.

Lorena Johnson is a 17-year-old senior at West Hills High School. She is the current Queen of the House of Peru. Some of Lorena’s hobbies include making jewelry and playing guitar. Currently, she works at Jamba in Santee. Lorena is planning on attending a four-year university in California in the coming years and double majoring in Marine Biology and Spanish.

Monica Jaikaran is the 2022-23 HPR Queens Advisor. She was born and raised in San Diego and graduated from Kearny High School in 1995. She continued her studies at Long Beach State, San Diego City College, Pacific Oaks College, and Louisiana State University - Shreveport. 

Monica married her husband, DJ, on February 14, 2001, and they have two beautiful children, Dominic and Bella. Dominic is 19 years old, a Junior at the University of San Francisco majoring in Advertising. Bella is 17 years old, a Senior at Cathedral Catholic School, and she’s the House of Puerto Rico Queen.

She keeps herself busy by running multiple businesses, volunteering, traveling, and supporting her children’s education and passions. Monica's a military widow and she does a lot locally and nationally to honor her late husband, DJ. 

Monica is super excited to share all of her knowledge and resources with the HPR Queens program to keep this organization moving onward and upward!

Kylie Valency has been in Queens for eight years. Her first five years were spent as Queen of the House of Israel, and she now enters her first year as Assistant Advisor, after two years as Advisor. She has an Associate's in Child and Adolescent Development and two early education teaching certificates. She will graduate in December 2022 from California State University San Marcos with a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development.
